Metallica To Film Big-budget Video For 'frantic'

Metallica's Summer Sanitarium Tour touched down in Montreal's Parc Jean Drapeau this past Sunday (July 20th) and since there wasn't another Summer Sanitarium date booked until this Friday in St. Louis, the band decided to put the time off to good use. On Monday (July 21st), Metallica began shooting the video for their next single from St. Anger, the album's lead-off track titled "Frantic," in the suburbs of Montreal. Wayne Isham, best known for his video work with the Rolling Stones, is directing the new clip. Isham previously worked with Metallica on their videos for "Enter Sandman," "Sad But True," "I Disappear," and the long form videos Cunning Stunts, and S&M.

The video for "Frantic -- which will reportedly cost $1 million to make -- tells the story of a man in his mid-twenties whose life has spun out of control. After a series of flashbacks into his life, the man intentionally causes a multi-vehicle crash.

The video includes many complicated stunts, which are being coordinated by stuntman Andy Armstrong, who was one of the stuntmen for the movie Charlie's Angels.
